Review: Core by Clare Smyth

A Three-Star Michelin Restaurant in London

Located in Notting Hill, Core by Clare Smyth is a refined yet unpretentious dining destination, celebrated for its impeccable execution and ingredient-driven approach. Since opening in 2017, it has become one of London’s most sought-after restaurants, earning three Michelin stars in just three years.

Clare Smyth, one of the most acclaimed chefs from Northern Ireland, is known for her innovative and precise approach to cooking. Before opening Core, she made history as the first female chef to run a three-Michelin-starred restaurant in the UK at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Her presence at Core is undeniable, and it is clear that she remains deeply involved in the kitchen. And it is always a pleasure to see the chef in the kitchen. Compared to other renowned chefs, she is present.

The lunch service was quite busy, and at times, it almost felt like an ordinary London lunch spot. But the energy was electric, and the atmosphere carried a certain ease. We even caught a glimpse of the team enjoying Dire Straits in the kitchen while heading to the powder room.

Despite the full house, Clare Smyth and her team executed every dish with absolute precision. The level of detail was borderline ridiculous—each plate as stunning as it was delicious.
