Review: Rosewood Phuket

Luxury Stay at Rosewood Phuket: Review and Tips.

Rosewood Phuket earned its spot on Condé Nast Traveller’s hot list of the “Best New Hotels in the World 2018” (despite opening in November 2017) for a reason. It offers exceptional experiences and services. The resort is sprawling, located on a hill with a jungle-like setting and magnificent 150-year-old banyan trees overlooking the sea. Buggy transportation is available for easy access to the restaurants and pool areas.

The resort’s design philosophy emphasises allowing the natural environment to take centre stage rather than architectural extravagance. Furthermore, the resort incorporates sustainable practices throughout, adding to its appeal.

Ocean room at Rosewood Phuket

We are not fans of crowded resorts where the pool is packed with people. This is not the case at Rosewood, which exudes an intimate and private resort feel. We fell in love with it immediately.

Rosewood Phuket features luxurious villas and pavilions that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Each accommodation is designed with contemporary Thai aesthetics and equipped with modern amenities, private pools, and expansive terraces. The resort also offers a range of dining options, from the casual ambiance of Red Sauce to the refined Thai cuisine at Ta Khai.

For wellness enthusiasts, the Asaya spa provides a holistic approach to well-being, offering personalised treatments and wellness programs. The resort also boasts an infinity pool with stunning views of the Andaman Sea, a fitness centre, and a variety of recreational activities, including yoga and water sports.

The Essential

Room type

Ocean View Pool Villa

Room change

We examined two other rooms as the promised "spectacular view" was missing and there was construction nearby (off-site). Although they offered us a beach villa, my companion was slightly worried about the possibility of a tsunami, so we kindly declined. Ultimately, we decided to stick with the initial room, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision.

Air condition

State of the art, silky smooth and no noise.

Restaurants

The fact that two of their restaurants have earned a mention in the Michelin Guide is a testament to their quality. Tha Khai, situated on the waterfront, is particularly noteworthy and outstanding.

Management

The management team cares and interacts with the guests.

Address

Vyn a Boutique Hotel in Österlen.

In the same building as the restaurant Vyn, there are 15 lovely rooms spread across two floors. It’s the perfect choice if you’re a guest at the restaurant, but keep in mind you don’t have to dine there to stay. All the rooms are brand new, and there’s a water-saving Orbital shower in the bathroom, which adds a touch of sustainability to Vyn.

We were particularly pleased not to find those striped linens that seem to be standard in every Swedish hotel. The pillows were comfortable, though the bed was slightly firm, but that’s typical for a new hotel.
