SingleThread, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant and inn nestled in Healdsburg, California, is renowned for its hyperlocal, Japanese-inspired cuisine. This exceptional culinary experience is crafted using ingredients sourced from the restaurant’s five-acre farm. The inn offers five luxurious guest rooms, each thoughtfully designed to embody the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability and Japanese aesthetics.
Our room was a delightful oasis, adorned with subtle touches like Swedish matchsticks, a Matcha tea brewer, homemade ice cream, and a surprising addition of gummy bears – not the typical candy for kids, but rather a nod to California’s legal substance.
Established in 2016 by Kyle and Katina Connaughton, SingleThread is the brainchild of a seasoned chef and a passionate farmer. Kyle’s culinary journey includes stints at renowned establishments like The Fat Duck in England and Michel Bras in France, while Katina boasts a deep understanding of sustainable agriculture. Together, they’ve created a truly unique and remarkable dining destination.
Prior to our visit, we anticipated Japanese influences in the cuisine, but were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant’s full immersion in Japanese flavors and techniques. Though it may not have been our typical choice of cuisine, we wholeheartedly appreciate SingleThread’s dedication to honoring its ingredients. Dining here is a culinary expedition through a lush garden of dishes.
