Lunch at Torrisi NYC: Friends and Truffle Pasta

Memories Made at Torrisi

So, I do not have any pictures of the food (except for the extra pasta dish). Sometimes that is just how it goes, especially when you are with the best of friends, soaking up the moment. We picked this spot for an early lunch since our friends had a flight back to Sweden later that day.

I still cannot get over the fact that they flew in just to celebrate my birthday. Looking back, I am struck by what a thoughtful gesture it was. Yes, it is sentimental, but who cares? This was supposed to be a review of Torrisi, but I cannot ignore how much it meant to me.

As I scroll through my NYC photos from Torrisi, I see my wife, my friends, and the absence of food shots. That just means I was truly in the moment—in the happiest of places—and so was my wife. She ordered the pasta with white truffle, as it was in season and on nearly every reputable NYC menu.

After just one bite, she was in heaven. I am sure the plate could not have been cleaner if we had sent in four dogs to lick it. For her, it was the best white truffle dish in the city, and trust me, she tried many on our trip—enough to break anyone’s budget!

Torrisi is a beautifully designed restaurant; we loved the interior—it oozes the charm of a modern Italian restaurant. But we did not enjoy the high volume. I will never appreciate the noise levels in NYC restaurants—seriously, what is wrong with you?

The stereo was so loud that all the guests had to raise their voices just to be heard. WHY? We politely asked if they could turn down the music a notch, but it made no difference. The service staff almost had to shout just to explain the specials. It was ridiculous.

Torrisi is one of the hottest spots in NYC and yes, they deliver great, attentive service and delicious food, which explains why it is so hard to get a reservation—it is easier to book a table at Per Se. Looking back we
understand why.

Torrisi, you need to lower the volume. Honestly, we were just relieved we were not there for dinner when the bar is also packed…

We get the hype—the restaurant is spot-on. It is a perfectly Instagrammable and TikTok-friendly. But is it more style than substance? In the end, a plate of good food will always win.

Ultimately, what matters more than any dish or dining experience is sharing it with people who mean the world to you. No photo can capture that, but those moments live on in memories we will never forget.
