Review: Restaurant Saison in San Francisco

Saison: A Restaurant with Mixed Feelings

Saison is a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco that serves a tasting menu of wood-fired dishes. When we first arrived, we were impressed by the cozy atmosphere and the open kitchen. The chef gave the orders quietly, and all the other chefs immediately shouted “Yes, Chef!” It was like being in an old-school French restaurant or on Gordon Ramsay’s show.

However, after a short while, we started to notice some problems with the restaurant. The layout was not very good, and there were a lot of staff running around behind the guests and in the kitchen. It was simply too crowded and chaotic. The music was also too loud.

The tasting menu was also too long and heavy. There were too many dishes, and some of them were not very good. For example, the main dish arrived, and then a couple of minutes later, two or three side dishes arrived to accompany it. However, there was no indication as to which order the dishes should be eaten in. This was stressful, as we had just started eating the main dish when the side dishes were presented.

The bathroom was also quite strange. There was a loudspeaker right next to the toilet, blasting music right into your ears. Come on, we are at a Michelin restaurant toilet, not a rave party.

The tempo of the service was good, but in this case, we would have preferred a slower tempo. We felt like we were being rushed through the meal.

Overall, we had a mixed experience at Saison. The food was good in some places but not great in others. The atmosphere was too chaotic and noisy. And the overall experience was too rushed. We would not recommend this restaurant to everyone, but it may be worth a visit if you are looking for a unique dining experience.
