Review: Auberge du Soleil

Auberge du Soleil - The Grand old Lady in Napa Valley.

This was our last night in California. First, we booked the Farmhouse Inn in Forestville, but there was something nagging about the place. It looks fantastic on their website, but our gut feeling said differently. So, we rebooked at Auberge du Soleil. Our flight back was in the evening, and at Auberge du Soleil, we were granted a late check-out at 4 pm, which was perfect. Unfortunately, their Michelin-starred restaurant was closed (Tuesday), but the terrace restaurant was open.

Auberge du Soleil feels like an grand old lady with a touch of a French Riviera hotel. (Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley, California, was the first hotel in the Auberge Resorts Collection, founded in 1981.) It’s completely different from the Stanly Ranch Resort. The hotel is okay, but we think it’s too expensive for what you get. Sure, the view is nice but not breathtaking.

The room was spacious and elegant, but will soon need refurbishing. And it is not soundproof, especially when the gardener got the brilliant idea to clean the wood deck in front of the entrance at 06:50 am with high water pressure.
