Best Brunch in Singapore? Why We Keep Returning to Colony

Why You Should Not Skip Brunch in Singapore

Brunch in Singapore is not just a weekend meal, it is an experience. Think pile up seafood, top Champagnes, and enough cuisine variety to make decisions difficult. Some places go big on style, others focus on only Italian food, but one thing is certain: you will not leave hungry.

Whether you are after a high-rise view, a lavish hotel selection, or a chef-driven feast, Singapore has you covered.

Colony at The Ritz-Carlton

Our first trip to Singapore together was over New Year’s Eve 2019. My wife, always thorough in her research, had heard about the city’s renowned brunch scene and set out to find the best one. Naturally, her priorities included Champagnes and a diverse selection of cuisines.

That search led her to Colony, which at the time offered free-flowing Dom Pérignon 2008 at a reasonable price. Prices have risen steeply since then, but they still offer different drink packages to suit various preferences. On that New Year’s Eve, though, there was no question—we went all in.

Do not miss out on the Foie Gras station.

We were blown away. The sheer variety, the execution, the festive atmosphere—it all clicked. So when we returned to Singapore for Christmas in 2024, my wife booked it again. Our third visit.

We have never been to another restaurant for brunch in Singapore. Maybe next time we will try something new.

But I doubt it. There is something about Colony that keeps drawing us back. It is familiar yet exciting, indulgent without being over-the-top. The service has been impeccable every time, and while the restaurant is large, they do not miss a detail.

And the food? It is everything. I mean, truly everything. The only thing missing might be Beluga caviar, but even they have their limits.

For children, there is a dessert and candy station that feels like stepping into Willy Wonka’s secret candy store. Be prepared to have a sugar-rushed child ready to stay awake for three days.

A Festive Atmosphere

That brings us to our most recent visit, Christmas Eve. The restaurant was fully booked, mostly with Singaporean guests exchanging gifts, laughing, and wearing party hats. It felt like we were part of a family—just a small part.

Next to the shellfish, I met a local woman who was surprised that we had managed to get a table. “Almost impossible,” she said. (Thank you, wifey!)

Then, like Bania in Seinfeld, she declared, “The best, Jerry! The best!”—this time, about Colony’s brunch.

At that moment, I believed her.

But here is the thing, Colony is not for everyone. It is big, and while we love the energy and variety, others might find it overwhelming rather than cosy.

Still, for us, it is the whole package. The indulgence, the atmosphere, the Champagne, and, let us be honest, pure habit. Why change a winning concept?

Other Brunch Spots in Singapore

If you are considering other brunch spots, here are a few options, though Singapore has many more to explore.

La Brasserie at The Fullerton Bay Hotel

The Astor Grill  by the St. Regis

Oscar’s at Conrad Centennial

Pete’s Place at Grand Hyatt

If that is not enough, The Urban List has 23 more brunch spots.

Bars

A little off topic, bars in Singapore. Same here, a lot to choose from. Here are three popular ones:

Cé La Vi at Marina Bay Sands, one of Singapore’s most popular bars.

Atlas Bar, which boasts one of the world’s largest gin collections—over 1,300 varieties.

Raffles’ Long Bar, home of the original Singapore Sling.

Reservations are crucial for Atlas and Cé La Vi, while Long Bar is walk-in only, unless you are a guest at Raffles, in which case, you can book ahead.

The bottom line

Date of Visit

Christmas Eve, 24th of December 2024

Why Do We Keep Returning?

Because Colony is the ultimate brunch experience for us—impeccable service, indulgent food, a festive atmosphere, and free-flowing Champagne.

Every time we visit Singapore, we wonder if we should try somewhere new, but in the end, we always find ourselves back at Colony.

Worth the Money?

It is all you can eat, so in the end, it is up to you.
