Review: The Siam

The Siam Hotel location leaves much to be desired.

If it were 1901, before air conditioning was invented in 1902, the Siam could have been the best in Bangkok.

However, in today’s world, it falls short. The worst aspect of this hotel is not the lack of air conditioning in the rooms, as they do have it, but rather its location. Upon arrival, the hotel appears to be in a sketchy neighborhood with nothing of interest nearby. While it may be ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, it is not a recommended destination unless you are a colonial romantic enthusiast.

This hotel is perfect for an Instagram photo op, especially while sipping a Gin and Tonic and playing billiards on the grand table. However, we cannot recommend it for a multi-day stay. Honeymooners, in particular, will be disappointed.

The rooms are impressive, except for the excessively loud air conditioning. The complimentary boat shuttle to various attractions is enjoyable, but it loses its charm after the first ride. The second time around, it feels like an extended commute. Additionally, finding a taxi is challenging, and drivers often refuse to use the meter. It’s best to avoid taxis altogether and use the Grab app, which works similarly to Uber and is highly efficient.

In conclusion, do not trust all the attractive pictures you come across online.
