Best Destination 2023

  • Ithaafushi, Maldives – Yes, it was finally our turn to experience the beauty of the Maldives. The crystal-clear waters, stunning resort, and serene environment made it an unforgettable destination.

Runner-Up

  • Napa Valley, California, USA – A place characterized by rolling vineyards, exquisite wines, and breathtaking landscapes. This combination created a rich and indulgent experience that was truly memorable.

  • Amanzoe in Greece – This hotel stands as a testament to Grecian grandeur and serenity. With its stunning architecture and exquisite services, Amanzoe provided a truly exceptional stay.

Worst Hotel 2023

  • Hällsnäs Hotel in Sweden – While this hotel may have its charms, it unfortunately didn’t meet our expectations, falling short in key areas that impacted our overall experience.

Runner-up

  • Hotel Vintage House in Yountville, California, USA – This hotel could easily be mistaken for a set from a Hitchcock movie. Overrun with spiderwebs and spiders, it seemed more like a haunted house than a hospitable stay. It’s clear the hotel has seen better days. On the upside, they’re all set for Halloween without any extra decorations!

Best Restaurant 2023

Choosing the best restaurant of 2023 is a tough and impossible task, but a few truly stood out:

Runner-Up

  • Bairaktaris in Athens – Unforgettable for its delicious Tsatsiki, so tempting that one of us nearly licked the bowl clean! The fact that the Tsatsiki was pricier than our wine only added to the charm of the restaurant.

Worst Restaurant 2023

  • Restaurant Äng – An easy choice for the worst of 2023. Over-fermented and pretentious, it failed to deliver in both service and flavors, leaving much to be desired from the dining experience.

  • Restaurant Spondi in Athens, Greece – Although it holds a reputation, our experience fell short of expectations. The cuisine and service didn’t quite hit the mark, making it a disappointing visit.

  • Peacock Alley at Waldorf Astoria Maldives – A standout bar that truly impressed us in 2023. Kudos to the mixologists for their remarkable craftsmanship.

Runner-Up

  • Baba Au Rum in Athens, Greece – This bar captivated us with its unique atmosphere and an extensive selection of finely crafted cocktails. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone who appreciates the art of mixology or a rare glass of rum.
