Vintage House and Hotel Villagio both form part of The Estate Yountville. We had booked an Estate Suite at Vintage House for a couple of nights.
The first room suffered from road noise. The second had such a strong smell that we could not stay in it.
We then moved across the property to an Estate Suite at Hotel Villagio. Three rooms in one night.
Both properties describe themselves as boutique luxury hotels.
The rooms we saw felt closer to an ordinary mid-range hotel. The service and management, however, were excellent.
The reception areas were cosy and inviting. Vintage House felt worn and ready for Halloween, with cobwebs all around. Hotel Villagio was slightly better, with newer and more contemporary rooms, but both hotels appeared to need renovation when we visited.
If the room itself matters less than staying in central Yountville, Hotel Villagio has an excellent location. Our experience, however, did not convince us that either hotel justified its price. For a luxury stay, we would choose Auberge du Soleil, around 15 minutes away by car.
Yountville is a charming village, but we did not find a reason to stay overnight.
