Review: Park Hyatt / The Langham

Last night at Park Hyatt hotel in Sydney.

After a bad experience at the Langham where we had a room booked, we decided to leave due to not getting our room until 4.30 pm, and the room smelled of cigarettes.

It was obvious that they prioritized the wedding party at the hotel, and the service level for regular guests was low. It was a Saturday in Sydney, and almost every hotel was fully booked, but after searching around and making phone calls for an available room, Park Hyatt was our best option.

Due to our short stay, we can’t say much about the hotel, but the room was modern and had the usual amenities. The front of staff and bellmen were excellent, and it was located next to the Cruise Ships and noisy outdoor bars. The room we had was a 1 King bed with an Opera House view, 40-45 sqm, but it felt cramped due to the layout of the room and the low roof height. You could see the Opera House if you stepped out and leaned left over the balcony rail. However, beware that they put a warning note not to have the balcony door open due to spiders.

Overall, it was ok for a night’s sleep, but it was way too pricy.
