Review: Restaurant Signum

Restaurant Signum - A Bumpy Ride to Michelin-Star Magic.

Restaurant Signum is located outside Mölnlycke. The road leading there is a challenging experience; you wouldn’t want to encounter a school bus or even a moped. Upon arriving at Hällsnäs, we checked into a run-down hotel. The weather and the season were not in our favor, and we couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Why this location?’

Our bathroom had a strong sewage smell coming from the shower, and two radiators next to the bed were squeaking with a high-pitched noise, even when turned off. We managed to fix the shower problem ourselves, but the radiator proved unfixable.

The reception staff were well aware of the issue and offered us earplugs. As we walked to the restaurant, a strong sewage smell also filled the outside air. It was not the best start to our evening

The dining room

Everything is forgotten!

When we stepped into Signum, everything was forgiven. A cozy small lounge, smiles from the staff, and we were offered a glass of Champagne; there were five different ones to choose from. And the snacks started to arrive. It was a great start.

Then it was time to go down to the dining room, and a parade of super tasty dishes arrived. Well-balanced and excellently executed. (So different from Restaurant Äng.) The service was great, and the pace was perfect. We ended up in the small lounge for some small desserts and a digestive.

Conclusion

Restaurant Signum is a small restaurant. At the time we were there, four chefs served a memorable dinner. We would be happy to go back, but the hotel rooms are in poor condition, even for one night.

Someone told us that Signum is going to build new rooms for their guests. So there is hope for the future.
